Episode 7 of "The Arrived Series" spread the news of the Yamani to a broader audience

Narrations about the Yamani

The Yamani (pbuh) is a person prophesized to appear before the Mahdi (pbuh) in the End Times and is considered a major sign of the imminent appearance and rise of Imam Mahdi (pbuh).
When looking at the Hadeeths it is seen that a lot of importance is given to this person. The Yamani is not just a major sign before the appearance of Imam Mahdi (pbuh), but rather he plays a huge role in it. How could anyone consider the Yamani as ‘independent’ from the appearance in any aspect when he is described as being a khalifa, calling to the truth, to the straight path, and to Imam Mahdi (pbuh), having 'the Banner of Guidance', ‘the Banner of the Mahdi’? The Yamani is described as coming from the East, defeating the Sufyani, being the person who ‘leads to the obedience of the Mahdi’, and being a ‘Minister of the Mahdi’.
None other End Times character than the Yamani has been given more importance. He has a leadership position whereby supporting him has been obligated and turning away from him is forbidden!
The importance of the Yamani during the End times is undeniable, according to the ahadeeths.
Though there are not many Hadeeths directly mentioning the Yamani, we see that the Yamani is mentioned frequently by different titles.

"Qaim" or "Mahdi" are titles

In order to decipher the matter of the Yamani one must realize, that "Qaim" or "Mahdi" are merely titles which can either refer to Imam Al-Mahdi or his vicegerent the Yamani.

* Imam Al Baqir (as): "For the Qaim are two names, one is hidden and the other is revealed. As for the one that is hidden it is Ahmad, and the one that is revealed is Muhammad.” – Kamal Al Deen p.653 v.2 door 57

It is logical that the revealed name Muhammed refers to the 12th Imam Mahdi – Muhammad ibn Hasan Al-Askari – since all Shia think of him when they hear the word "Qaim" - however the hidden name is the Yamani Ahmed because he is unknown till he appears in the End Times.

All ahadith taken together reveal a long hidden secret of the Ahlul Bayt (as) – the Yamani is the Qaim, who makes the rise under the command of Imam Mahdi (as) to fight out the major battles for him, in order to then hand the established Divine State of Justice to him, and to then succeed Imam Mahdi's (as) rule as the First of the Mahdyeen. Only by the Yamani himself the pieces of the puzzle have been put together in this age.

But before we look at the overall picture that emerges from the ahadith about the Yamani, let us reflect on the authority of the Yamani character established by the words of the Ahlul Bayt (as).

Correct understanding of the hadith: Every allegiance before the reappearance of the Qa'em

Fb-post by a non-ansar

Some people wrongfully understand the following hadith as forbiddance to give allegiance to anyone before Imam Mahdi (as) personally. The hadith is:

Imam al Sadiq (as) said: "Oh mufaddal every allegiance before the reappearance of the Qa'em, then its allegiance is kufr and hypocrisy and deceiving, may God curse the one who receives the bay'ah (allegiance) and the one who gives it."

The Reply:
So how do you explain the Yamani Hadith, in which Imam Al-Baqir (as) is commanding everyone to give victory to the Yamani who will appear before Imam Mahdi (as) to pave the way for him, rather Imam Al-Baqir (as) says that the ones who turn away from the Yamani is from the people of hell fire:
Imam Al-Baqir (as) said: “None of the banners are more guided than the banner of the Yamani, it is the Banner of Guidance because he calls to your Companion (Imam Mahdi (as)). So if the Yamani emerges, selling weapons to people or any Muslim becomes prohibited. And if the Yamani emerges, stand up to him because his banner is the banner of guidance. It is prohibited for any Muslim to turn away from him. And who ever turns away from him, then he is from the people of hell, because he calls to the truth and to a straight path." - Ghaibat alNu’mani p.264, Door.14

So in order that there won't be contradiction between the Hadith of the Yamani, and the first hadith, the only explanation would be that the Yamani is also a Qa'im, because he is the first Mahdi (successor of the 12th Imam) mentioned in the holy will of Prophet Muhammad (sawas). Ahlul Bayt (as) said "We are all Qa'ims" and "we are all risers (Qa'ims) by the truth."
So the first hadith would mean that any banner or any allegiance before the Yamani (who is also a Qa'im) is a deceiving one. But once the Yamani appears, it is obligatory on everyone to give allegiance to him (as) because he is the paver of the way for Imam Mahdi (as). And the Yamani and first Mahdi is Imam Ahmed Al-Hassan (as) who is the first to come with the will of Prophet Muhammad (sawas) which cannot be claimed by anyone except its rightful companion, and he is the first one to give us the glad tidings of the appearance of Imam Mahdi (as) on the very same day of death of the tyrant Abdullah of Hijaz, and this glad tidings cannot be given by anyone else except for the truthful one who is from Rasoul Allah (sawas), because Rasoul Allah (sawas) attributed it to himself "give me the glad tidings of his death, andI will give you the glad tidings of the appearance of the Hujjah", and he (as) raised on that very same day the Black Banners of the East which on them is written "Allegiance is to Allah" exactly as Ahlul Bayt (as) promised. And they (as) commanded that you must give them victory even if crawling on ice.

The obligation to follow the Yamani

The Holy Imams clarified the rank and station of the Yamani, and clarified the obligation of joining him. And keep in mind that Allah (swt) only obligates us to obey an infallible Imam.

Two Imams-green.png
  • Abu Abdullah (pbuh) said: “The Messenger of Allah (pbuhaf) said: "Glad tidings to whoever realizes the Qa’im of my Ahlul Bayt and follows his example before his rise, supports his supporters and declares himself innocent from his enemy, and follows [the commands] of the guiding Imams before him, those are my companions and the owners of my love and the most honorable of my nation to me." Rifaa’ said: (And the most honorable creation of Allah to me).” – Ghaybat Al-Toosi p456, Bihar Al-Anwar v52 p130
  • Imam Al-Baqir (pbuh) said: “The emergence of the Sufyani, Yamani and Khurasani is in one year, in one month, in one day, ordered like the order of beads, some people will follow some of them and there will be misery on every face, woe to those who stayed far away from them and there is no banner more guided than the banner of the Yamani, his banner is the banner of guidance because he calls/ invites to your Companion/Sahib (Sahib al Zaman (pbuh)), so if the Yamani emerges he will make arms dealing forbidden for the people and every Muslim, and if the Yamani emerges then rise up towards him, indeed his banner is the banner of guidance, and it is not permitted for a Muslim to turn away from him, and whoever does this then he is from the people of the hellfire, because he calls/invites to the truth and to the straight path.” – p.264 Gaibat Al Numani
"Sheikh Korani admits that Yamani is obligatory to be followed" (caution: video made by a supporter of the Illegitimate Office

Imam Al-Baqir (pbuh) said that the Yamani's banner is the banner of guidance, because he calls to your companion/ possessor.
And if a person calls to the possessor in the end of times then he is a messenger from the Family of Muhammad (sawas), who is in close contact with Imam Al-Mahdi (pbuh), so that even Imam Al-Baqir (pbuh) emphasized not to turn away – meaning that it is forbidden (haram) to reject the Yamani's command.

  • Imam Al-Baqir (pbuh) said: "In every century from this nation there is a messenger from the Family of Muhammad, he comes out to that century as a messenger for them and they are the greatest servents (of Allah) and messengers." – Bihar Al Awar 306 v.24

Every command of an Imam (pbuh) is a command of Allah (swt) and no one has the right to instill any opinions against that or else it will be like Iblees (may Allah curse him) who argued with Allah (swt) about why Adam became a caliph and a leader so Iblees out of arrogance and pride did not accept it. To understand that the Yamani is a caliph (khalifa) or Imam read the following paragraph "The Yamani comes before the Twelfth Imam (Imam Mahdi)".

  • The Prophet (pbuh) took the hand of Al-Abbas and the hand of Ali (as) and said: “There shall be a man from the offspring of this man (Abbas) who shall fill the earth with injustice and tyranny, and there shall be a man from the offspring of this man (Ali) who shall spread the earth with justice and tranquility, so if you see this happening, then it is incumbent on you to go with the man who is a Yemeni; for he shall come from the East, and he is the one with the banner of the Mahdi.” – Al-Mahdi alMuntather alMaw’ood, v.1 p.107, Door.4, Hadith.3

The Yamani comes before the Twelfth Imam (Imam Mahdi)

In order to see how the Ahlul Bayt (as) told us that the Yamani is of the inevitable signs for the Mahdi (as), and calls to him, has his banner and is his Vizier and a Khalifa read the following ahadith…

Signs of the Mahdi, the inevitable Yamani

Yamani calls to our Sahib (Sahib Al-Zamaan/Imam Mahdi)

Pledge allegiance to the Yamani version 1

  1. Footnote from the scholar Na'eem alMaroozi: "Meaning he is not from the people of Yemen."

Pledge allegiance to the Yamani version 2

Yamani has banner of the Mahdi, comes from East

Banner of Guidance (held by Yamani)

  • Imam Ali (as) said: "And the Grand Truthful will advance with the Banner of Guidance, and the Thulfiqaar Sword and the Rod; until he descends twice to the Land of Emigration, and it is Kufa. He will demolish Kufa's Mosque and rebuild the mosque according to its earlier construction. And also demolish what is in front of the mosque from houses of the tyrants.
He will advance toward Basra until he controls it's ocean. He has the Ark of the Covenant (Chest that holds the 2 Tablets containing the Ten Commandments) and Moses' Staff (pbuh). He then decides on it and exhales a Sigh in Basra; so it turns into a bottomless ocean. [So] it drowns, and nothing remains in it except it's mosque, like the prow (front) of the boat on the surface of the water."'Aqeedatul Muslimeen fi alMahdi, vol.1 p.313

Man from the East, calls people to obey the Mahdi

Vizier/ Wazeer of Mahdi defeats Sufyani

The Yamani is the First Ansar of Imam Mahdi: Ahmed from Basra

Look at the following ahadtihs to understand that the Yamani (as) has the banner of the Mahdi (as), and calls to him (as). He is The first of the Mahdi's 313 Companions, and comes from Basra, and opposes the Sufiyani as a warrior.

Again the Yamani narration here:

  • Yamani calls to our Sahib (Sahib Al-Zamaan/Imam Mahdi)

Imam Al-Baqir said: "There is no banner better than the banner of the Yamani, it is the banner of guidance, because he calls to your Sahib (Imam Mahdi (as), so if the Yamani comes out, selling weapons to people or any Muslim becomes prohibited, and if the Yamani appears, stand up to him, because his banner is the banner of guidance, and it is prohibited for any Muslim to turn away from him, and who ever turns away from him, then he's from the people of hell, because he calls to the truth and to a path that is straight."Ghaiba alNu'mani p.264, Door.14 (Online version: p.256)

First of 313.jpg

The First is from Basra

  • Prince of the Believers Ali (as) said in a sermon: "Shall I specify for you his (Imam Mahdi's as) men and their number?" We said: Yes O Prince of the Believers (as). He (as) said: "I heard the Prophet of Allah (pbuh) say, the First of them is from Basra and the last of the is from Yamama." And Ali (as) was relating the men of the Mahdi (as) while the people were writing. He said (as): "Two men from Basra and one from Ahwaz, …"Malahim wal Fitan p.146 (or p.289), Door.77
; Mu'juam Ahadith al-Imam alMahdi, vol.3 p.104, Hadith.647

Ahmad from Basra

It is clear that Ahmad is from Basra, and that the very first companion/ Ansar of Imam Mahdi (as) is from Basra. This matches the descriptions of the First Mahdi (Ahmad) in the Will who is "the first of the close ones" and "the first believer". The following hadith shows that Ali and Muharib are from Basra; there are two possible explanations (of why Ahmad is not mentioned here) the first being that not all the people from Basra are being mentioned, and the second being that "Muharib" could be referring to Ahmad, this will be shown later on.

The First Ansar from Basra

  • A group of companions rose up and said: O Prince of the Believers, we ask you by Allah and by the son of your Uncle the Messenger of Allah (pbuhap) to name them for us by their names and regions/ countries as our hearts have melted from your speech [about the Mahdi (as)].
So he (pbuh) said: "Listen and I will clarify to you the names of the Ansar (supporters) of the Qaim (as), verily the first of them is from the people of Basra and the last of them is from Abdaal, as for those from the people of Basra are two men one is Ali and the other is Muharib."Matha qal Ali fi Akhir alZaman p.452
; Bisharat al-Islam, Door.2 Hadith.148

Muharib could be referring to Ahmad. In this next Hadith one of the names of the Sufyani is "Harb" meaning War. And since we know the Yamani/ Ahmad will fight the Sufyani, there is a possibility that "Muharib" (meaning warrior) could be referring to the Yamani/ Ahmad who is a warrior that fights against the Sufyani's War/ "Harb".

Sufyani name is Harb (meaning War)

Man from Basra before the Emergence

  • Then Imam AlSadiq (as) said: "The matter of the Qaim and his Rise is to Allah alone." I said: O Master, does he not have signs? Imam Al-Sadiq (as) said: "Rather he has various signs." …
He (as) said: "The coming down of soldiers on the Beach of Sihan of Basra. And there comes out on the beach of the Tigris River from Al Basra a man from the sons of my father peace be upon him. He wants to enter in but he is prevented from that by the most severe of preventions. And he returns leaving from it and he simmered for it the Armies from Bani Mardas." …
He (as) said: "Then he goes out with them until he reaches your Kufa and he stays in it God willing and a people from Kufa gather to him and he leaves it until he reaches Al Basra. So he wins it by night and enters it and he kills from it many creatures and he burns with it many tribes then he returns to Kufa." …
I said: O Master, where is the companion of this command that day during his occultation? Imam Al-Sadiq (as) replied: "Wherever Allah wills."Haft alShareef p.174-176

Is the Yamani from Yemen?

Mecca.png

In this section narrations will be shown which indicate that the word "Yamani" is an attribute (meaning 'right hand') and it does not imply the location of appearance or emergence to war. Rather it is an indication that the Yamani is from Ahlul Bayt (pbut), as all the Ahlul Bayt (pbut) are 'Yamanis'.
Furthermore some ahadith pinpoint the appearance of the Yamani from Kufa and Basra. With so many other locations mentioned the attribute of “Yamani” unlikely refers to a physical location but rather to his spiritual purity and descent from his ancestors who are ‘Yamanis’.

According to the below Hadiths, Mecca is from Tuhama, and Tuhama is from Yemen. Thus the Messenger of God Muhammed (sawas) is “from Yemen” and he is a Yemenite and so is his offspring, including the Yamani, by lineage.

Prophet Muhammad is a Yamani:
We know that Prophet Muhammed (pbuhap) was born in Mecca, but he uses the term Yamani to describe a position of faith and purity.

  • Sheikh Al-Majlisi: "He said that because Imaan (faith) started from Mecca which is Tuhama from the region of Yemen and so it was called: The Yamani Kaaba." - Mustadrak Safeenat AlBihar Sheikh Ali AlNumazi v.10 p.602 and Bihar AlAnwar v.22 p.1

Imaan (faith) is Yamani:

Mecca is from Tehama, Tehama is from Yemen:

Allama Majlisi refers to Yamani Wisdom:

  • Allama Majlisi (ra) says in the foreword: "And He has prepared the foundation/ soil of the believer's hearts in order for the Yamani Wisdom [to grow on it] then He spread it out, and He has fascilitated [the heart's soil] in order for the Divine Knowledge to blossom then took out water and pasture [from the Knowledge], and Guarded it from the Earthquakes of doubt and illusion, so He placed in it tranquility from His Benelovence like the mountains which He anchored [on Earth] so we thank Him for His Blessings that can not be counted."Bihar alAnwar, vol.1 p.1
The corner of the Ka’bah is called the Rukan Yamani because it is situated on the side of the Ka’bah which faces the land of Yemen. It is on the wall opposite to that of the Hajar al-Aswad (black stone).

The Door of the Rukn Al-Yamani is a Door of Repentance:

The Door of the Rukn Al-Yamani has a River of Paradise:

The Yamani Ka'ba:

  • And when Abu Talib got near to the Ka'ba, he said: "O Allah Lord of this Yamani Ka'ba, and this Praised Land/ Earth, and the strong mountains, if this [request] has preceded in Your wisdom, and in your Hidden Knowledge, that You increase us [Banu Abdul-Muttalib, family of Muhammad] in nobility - above our nobleness and glory - and above our respect to the interceding Prophet that Sateeh [diviner] gave glad tidings of, so make apparent, O Allah O Lord, his [Prophet's] clarity, and hasten his proof and confirmation [in the people], and turn away from us the plottings of the opposing ones, O Most Merciful of the Merciful ones."Bihar alAnwar, vol.15 p.310

The Yamani Qibla (prayer direction):

  • From the prophecised news of Abraham (pbuh): "… the well-beloved Muhammad, companion of the Yamani Qibla, and the Hanafi (upright) religion, and the pleasing Shari'a (Laws), and the rightly-guided Nation (Ummah), and the offspring of Hasan and Hussain, companion of Religion and Islam …"Manaaqib Aalee Abi Talib, vol.1 p.133
; Bihar alAnwar, vol.16 p.106

Al-Mahdi is a Yamani:
So we see that even Imam al-Mahdi (as) is also Yamani, while he was born in Samarra.

  • Imam Al Mahdi (a.s) {v.1 p.299 "Al Mahdi has to be from Quraish, and the caliphate is among them, and he has an origin and lineage from Yemen." - Ali AlKorani, Mu'jam Ahadeeth

Yamani comes from the East - (from Yemen) was added years later:

The East seen from Prophet Muhammed's (sawas) location in Mecca is Iraq, Iran... not Yemen.

There are some narrations in which (from Yemen) was added in parenthesis by the authors to the original narrations, for example in...

  • Bihar 1110 A.H which is around 1290 A.H manuscript
  • Mujam Ahadeeth AlImam AlMahdi (as) by Sheikh Ali Korani

These are the only prints which mentioned (from Yemen) after Yamani between parenthesis or as a footnote with no explanation for it's reason and where it was taken from.

But the Yamani doesn't emerge from Yemen in a hadeeth from an earlier source...

  • Kamal AlDeen Watamam AlNi'ma by Sheikh AlSadooq, Demise: 381 A.H, Edited and Commented by: Ali Akbar AlGafary, Print: Muharram AlHaram 1405 A.H, Published by:Mu'asasat AlNasher AlIslami AlTabe'a Lijame'at AlMudareseen in Honarable

And also Sayed AlMarashi reports the same exact hadeeth without 'from Yemen'...

  • Sayed AlMarashi reports the same exact hadeeth from the book Fusool AlMuhimma by Ibn Sabbagh al-Maliki, p.284, print of AlGiree which is a 7th century A.H book

So (from Yemen) was added years later.

In the videos below you find that Sheikh AlSagheer says that the Yamani (as) has nothing to do with Yemen, but with Iraq. Also Sayed al-Sadr has critcized that the Shias focus on "from Yemen", when Ahlulbayt (pbut) narrations never had such focus... and the revolution of Imam Al-Mahdi (as) starts from Iraq.
